Chuck Martin Lands Quality Transfer

Reporter Brian Towey has the updated story on Daye Kaba ...

New Marist head coach Chuck Martin zoomed up through the coaching ranks on the strength of his contacts in New York. In light of that, it's only fitting that the first addition to Martin's program is a player with local ties.

Daye Kaba will transfer from Boston College to Marist. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound combo guard, a one-time star at Our Savior New American on Long Island, will have two years of playing eligibility in Poughkeepsie.

"The main thing is that Coach Martin recruited me back in high school when he was at St. John's," said Kaba. "Other than that, I really liked the offense- the dribble-drive motion. That fits my game perfectly. Those were the two reasons (for my decision)."

Kaba also considered Loyola (Md.). The native of Cergy, France, appeared in seven games as a sophomore at BC this season, averaging 0.6 points and 0.6 rebounds in 2.4 minutes.

"I was looking for more of an opportunity," said Kaba. "I felt like Coach (Al Skinner) didn't give me a chance in the two years I was there. I want to be able to show what I can do."
