New Jersey Guard Chooses A School

Reporter Frank Mantesta has a commitment story on a guard from New Jersey ...

R.J. Hall, a 5-foot-10 lead guard guard from Bloomfield Tech in Bloomfield, New Jersey, has committed to Marist.

R.J. originally gave a verbal to Florida Atlantic last year. However, when Coach Rex Walters left to take over at University of San Francisco, he reopened his recruitment.

Coach Nick Mariniello told us that they called FAU numerous times to see what was going on with a new coach and never heard back.

Marist new head coach Chuck Martin who has been mentioned often in the past couple of weeks because of his hard work landed a very nice addition. R.J. took an unofficial visit and then returned on an official trip.

"It is a perfect spot for him," Mariniello said.

He added what a great job Chuck Martin did with him. That is something we are hearing lately about the new head man at Marist. This is the second New Jersey player to come into the fold at Marist. R.J. joins Alex Vouyoukas of Blair Academy who committed there about 2 weeks ago.

EVALUATION: Hall is a pure point guard. He has the ability to shoot the three-pointer but also the intelligence to feed the hot man and run the team.

He is strong with the ball. But something that will make Martin happy is his ability to defend on the ball.

R.J. is the type of player that makes the players around him better. With the way things are heating up at Marist there will be some good players around him.
