Brooklyn Guard To Play For Brian Nash

Reporter Frank Mantesta has a commitment story on Justin Newton ...

Justin Newton, a 6-foot, 175-pound guard from Poly Prep in Brooklyn, N.Y., is not traveling far to play his college ball. Justin will play for head coach Brian Nash at St. Francis College in Brooklyn.

Justin is a a strong, physical guard who can get to the basket and score. He is the type of player that likes a physical game too, never shying away from contact around the rim.

As a point guard he knows how to run a team and as a off guard he is able to score. Nash told him there is the opportunity for him to play if he is prepared to work from day one, something that Justin as always done.

Newton is a hard worker with a lot of strength and talent. In the Northeast Conference, Justin will be able to use his athleticism with sheer strength and will be a nice addition to the Terrier program.

Academics and the school body were important ingredients for Justin to decide what school he would choose. Newton stated he felt very comfortable with Coach Nash and his staff from the first time they talked.

Marist and Manhattan were other schools showing some interest in Justin.
