UCONN Transfer Takes Trip To Big 12 School

Reporter Brian Towey updates the status of Curtis Kelly ...

Connecticut freshman Curtis Kelly was on the campus of Kansas State this weekend, according to Maurice Hicks, his former coach at Rice High School and the director of the New York Gauchos AAU program.

Kelly was a major player in the Rice High School success in previous seasons, making an impact on both ends of the floor. His long arms enabled him to grab rebounds in traffic and be a threat offensively.

Joining Kelly on the trip was high school senior Jordan Henriquez, 6-foot-10, of Port Chester (N.Y.) High School, who currently plays with the Gauchos. Kelly also played with the Gauchos while competing on the high school level.

While Henriquez is a member of the class of 2008 he still may need a year of prep school.

A 6-foot-8 forward, Kelly appeared in 23 games for the Huskies in 2007-2008, averaging 2.1 points and 1.8 rebounds in 7.9 minutes.
