Final Look: 2008 Prospect From NYC

Reporter Mike Sullivan has a final look at Dorvell Carter ...

Dorvell Carter over the past couple of seasons saw his role as a point producer increase. With the added responsibility of being a key member of a deep and very talented Rice High School basketball team, he seemed to thrive when having the rock in his hands more.

Carter, the 6-foot-6, 182-pound swingman for the Raiders in New York City, has already commited to Chuck Martin's Marist basketball program. It was a terrific late spring pickup for the new head coach.

Qualified academically, Carter seemed to have a decent balanced offensive game -- equally efficient in producing points from many spots on the floor.

The level too is a wise for Dorvell, who will likely get ample chances to show his offensive skills. Though thin, his long arms and potential to add some more weight and muscle to his frame, make him a very attractive recruit in the long run.

Albany, Stony Brook, Long Island University, St. Francis, Quinnipiac, Manhattan, Robert Morris, and Iona all had interest in Dorvell at one time in his recruiting process.

We look for Carter to have a solid career at Marist and be a major impact player for them by the time he is sophomore when he has had a chance to add some strength to his frame.
