MIKE SULLIVAN'S FINAL THOUGHTS: Ryan was a joy to watch for several reasons over the past season. Number One: The level of play rose on both ends for the Royals' senior. Pearson demonstrated the willingness to battle inside for loose balls and dig out the dirty points when needed.
Number Two: He had more consistency in his game.
Number Three: The perimeter game improved dramatically, giving Ryan a chance to perhaps be a small forward on the college level.
Number Four: Other people finally recognized what we thought a couple of years ago -- that he's a darn good basketball player that can have a major impact on the game.
Ryan goes to a school that wins basketball games too. He will be tested for sure. Moving to the next level is never easy. But we fully expect Ryan, due to him playing a tough schedule every year at CTK, to eventually formulate a career that will be productive in scoring and rebounding.
He is very nifty around the basket and can sliver through traffic while taking the rock in to the rim.
Pearson was named co-MVP after the Jordan Regional All Star game held at Madison Square Garden last month. Sitting next to another writer, he turned to me and said, "Why haven't we heard more about him? He's a terrific player?"
We know that now, don't we.
