Former Rice Guard Discusses Recruiting Visits

Reporter Mike Sullivan has the recruiting story on Lamont Jones ...

Lamont Jones, a combo guard who competed this past year at American Christian School in Pennsylvania, told us yesterday that he has several visits in mind.

Jones, who is playing for Tiny Morton's Juice All Stars at the Rumble in the Bronx held on the campus of Fordham University, said he's already taken one visit. "I took one to Seton Hall," he stated. "It was the best visit I have taken to a campus so far. I had a great time."

Jones, who previously was committed to Louisville, says he has three other schools in mind.

"Xavier of Ohio, Oklahoma State, and Texas are the other schools I am considering," he said. "I'm going to visit Oklahoma State on June 21st. I like to set up visits to the other schools too before making a decision."

Lamont would rather play the lead guard slot. He said the schools involved in his recruiting process are looking to utilize him at both guard positions. "I prefer having the ball in my hands more so I can create," he said.

Jones helped the Juice All Stars to two straight pool victories. "I'm here trying to improve my game and help my team win it all," he said.

Lamont buried a couple of three-pointers in the game we watched yesterday afternoon. "I want to be more consistent with my shot so I'll work even harder on that this summer," he stated.
