Playaz Forward Mulling Future Decision

Reporter Mike Sullivan has the story on Playaz forward Brian Oliver ...

Brian Oliver, a 6-foot-7, 216-pound swingman from Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, didn't have his best game in game two of their pool series at the Rumble in the Bronx. The event, held in several venues in New York City, featured some solid talent for Oliver to compete against too.

"Sometimes you have a game like that," he said. "But the good news is there are more."

Oliver, who previously attended William Penn High School in New Castle, Pennsylvania, is playing for Jimmy Salmon's Playaz Club program. He played at Fordham University yesterday and seemed to be close to a decision.

"Right now Georgia Tech is my leader," he said.

When asked if he has a time table to make a decision, he responded: "I could make a decision soon, maybe today."

Well, today has passed. Oliver indicated he needed to speak more to his family regarding his recruiting process too. So, perhaps, he might need more time before he chooses a school.

But it's clear Georgia Tech has the advantage. "I like coach Hewitt and they have a chance to win," he said.

A rising senior, Oliver had previously mentioned interest in West Virginia.

Below are some previous evaluations regarding Brian Oliver's game:

FRANK MANTESTA'S VIEW OF BRIAN OLIVER'S INDIVIDUAL GAME: STRENGTHS: Brian possesses a good handle and can shoot the three-pointer. He is a great defender who can get up and block shots.

EVALUATION: Brian said coaches' have expressed interest in him playing the two slot, the shooting guard position.

At his size (6-foot-6, 6-foot-7) and able to defend and block shots, Oliver would be a nice addition to any college basketball program. He is a tremendous shooter with just a terrific all around game.
