Brooklyn Guard Likely To Take Prep Route

Reporter Brian Towey has the story on Brandon Romain ...

A prep year could be in Brandon Romain's future. The 6-foot-3, 165-pound shooting guard from Brooklyn's Boys and Girls High School, is seriously considering taking a fifth year at Mount Zion Christian Academy in Durham, N.C.

"I think (I'm going to prep there)," said Romain. "That's what it looks like. I don't know about other prep schools right now. But (Mount Zion) is the number one option."

Romain is eyeing the extra year to improve his physical strength.

"I've got to get bigger (physically)," said Romain. "That's the only reason (for the prep year). I qualified already with my SAT score. I've just got to get bigger."

Romain lists George Mason, Rhode Island, Penn St., Quinnipiac, and St. Bonaventure as schools that are pursuing him.

A rangy, slashing guard, the lefthander has an unorthodox game and an exceptional wingspan which helps him play the passing lanes. He is frequently around the ball.

Romain attended Xaverian High School in Brooklyn for three years before transferring across the borough to Boys and Girls for his senior year.

Brandon is traveling with the Raising Champions AAU team this summer, headlined by Lance Stephenson.
