Paterson Catholic Big Man Trying Two Sports

Paterson Catholic (Paterson, N.J.) head coach Damon Wright is thrilled to have another roster filled with high division one prospects. And they have some very talented underclassmen players too, including Trevor Clemmings, a 6-foot-6, 240-pound forward/center.

"He's keeps getting better for us," said Wright. "But right now he's playing football too."

Clemmings competed recently for Jimmy Salmon's Playaz program at the Joe Brown Memorial tournament. He was also a big part of Jimmy Salmon's 16 and under Playaz Club team that captured the Rumble in the Bronx title in the month of June.

"They are playing him at defensive tackle," said Wright. "But he's still very interested in basketball. He'll try both sports. Right now it's still up in the air. But if a program like Miami of Florida comes to you with a football scholarship, what would you do?"

Clemmings is a 2010 prospect who is a space eater with the physical tools to score consistently around the rim.

Many schools are already recruiting Trevor for basketball. Previously, we mentioned interest by such division one programs like Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Rutgers, St. Joe's, St. John's, Seton Hall, and Pittsburgh.

"He has several choices in what he could do," said Wright.
