Regan Tough For Rocks In Semifinal Win

Reporter Mike Sullivan has the story on the Albany City Rocks big semifinal victory last night ...

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLORIDA -- It wasn't long ago that the team the Albany City Rocks were facing yesterday had eliminated them in the Peach Jam final. Team Final, coached by Robert Brown, is a roster filled with high quality prospects. So the challenge was going to be difficult for Jim Hart's Rocks.

And the game lived up to expectations.

Will Regan, the rising junior prospect from Nichols High School in Buffalo, New York, showed why many college coaches are recruiting him hard. Regan scored 23 points, many on nifty reverse layups.

Regan's effort helped the Rocks hold off Team Final, 75-72.

Taran Buie, Pat Moore, and Tobias Harris were also key factors for the Rocks. Buie added 16 points, Moore had 13 and Harris finished with 10.

Team Final features the athletic talents of D.J. Irving and Michael Gilchrist. Irving recorded 20 points while Gilchrist contributed 20 as well.

The Rocks led after two quarters, 35-33 and 54-50 heading into the fourth frame. There were several lead changes in the final eight minutes of play but a key basket and free throw by Regan helped the Rocks regain the lead with around 2 minutes to play.
