New York Big Man Settling In On Prep School

Reporter Mike Sullivan updates us on the recruiting status of Jordan Henriquez ...

Jordan Henriquez, a 6-foot-10 center from Port Chester High School in Port Chester, New York, who signed a letter of intent with Kansas State this spring, is settling in on a prep school for this Fall, according to his mom, Lisa.

"Jordan is doing well," she said. "He is spending a lot of time with his family."

When asked what his goals are, Lisa stated: "He's probably going to The Winchendon School (Massachusetts), then it's off to Kansas State."

A year on the prep level will help Jordan make some solid improvements in his individual game as well as on the physical side. As he adds weight and muscle to his frame, it will make him a more effective player finishing near the rim against bigger bodies.

When Henriquez signed the letter of intent on Thursday with Kansas State, the staff at the Big 12 school did a terrific job in selling their program. Coach Frank Martin and his assistants convinced the New York big man that playing in the Big 12 was a great opportunity for him.

EVALUATION: Jordan is a tremendous shot blocker and improving as a consistent rebounder. Adding muscle in the upper part of his body is a key to make him an even better rebounder in traffic. Possessing long arms and wing span will only help Jordan outreach other players in retrieving loose balls.
