New Jersey Big Man Garners High D-1 Looks

Reporter Mike Sullivan has a recruiting update on Markus Kennedy ...

Markus Kennedy was a big reason why Matthew Pauls' Team NJABC team was one of the best AAU programs during the month of July. And when we say big, we mean it. Kennedy possesses a wide frame and is a load to handle in the paint.

The 6-foot-9, 230-pounder from St. Patrick High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey, is a 2010 prospect who already has many high division one programs interested in his skills.

According to Pauls, some schools are near the top of his list. "Villanova and Rutgers are the frontrunners," said Pauls. But the talented head coach stated Penn State, Miami, Massachusetts, Syracuse, Ohio State, and Temple also being seriously considered.

Kennedy's performance this July was impressive, especially in the events played at the Wide World of Sports complex in Disney World.

"His conditioning has improved, as has his work ethic, and he is now regularly nailing the 15 foot jump shot," said Pauls.

As Kennedy tones his body to handle the rigors of high division one basketball, his individual game will continue to progress. He is a big man who doesn't mind banging bodies near to the rim to score points.

Markus plans on taking unofficial visits to Rutgers and Penn State this Fall. He has already taken a campus visit to Villanova.
