2010 NJ Prospect Has Early D-1 Interest

Reporter Mike Sullivan details the game of New Jersey based forward Wayne Newsom, who comes from Piscataway ...

Wayne Newsom, a 6-foot-7, 205-pound forward from Piscataway High School in Piscataway, New Jersey, is a 2010 prospect who has solid athletic skills and is worth watching over the next year.

Newsom, who competed for Matt Paul's NJABC AAU program over the summer, has early division one interest from Robert Morris, Iona, and Canisius.

"He may have the most upside on the team," said Paul. "He is long, athletic as heck, and is not done growing. When all is said and done, he will be at least 6'7" 1/2 or 6'8"."

Paul added: "He dunks the ball, beats guys off the dribble, rebounds like a monster - he just needs to improve his mid-range jumper, and his strength. Wayne's work ethic is unbelievable. He sometimes works out 3 times per day, and often calls me and asks what he can do better, how he can do things differently, etc."

This very coachable player has the size and athletic skills to keep a close eye on since he makes progress almost every month in his individual game.

"Coach Andy Toole at Robert Morris has done a great job recruiting Wayne, and a number of other schools have now jumped into the mix because of Wayne's strong showing this spring/summer," concluded Paul. "He will take multiple unofficial visits this fall."
