New Jersey's Spears Blessed With Talent

Reporter Mike Sullivan outlines the individual game of Harold Spears, who competed for Matt Paul's NJABC program this past summer ...

Harold Spears can do several things well on the court. Possessing decent size at 6-foot-5, 205-pounds, the 2010 prospect has given scouts the impression he has a balanced offensive game.

Spears can hit clutch threes when given room and also rebounds the ball in traffic with consistency.

Hailing from The Pennington School in Pennington, New Jersey, he has early interest from some low to mid level division one programs.

Among the schools interested: Princeton, Penn, Cornell, James Madison, Drexel, and Bucknell.

"He rebounds very well on both ends, can bury the three ball, and gets to the rim very strong," said NJABC head coach Matt Paul.

Besides his worthy basketball skills, Spears is smart. "Harold has a 3.8 GPA, so will probably end up in the Ivy or Patriot League," said Paul. "He has taken unofficial visits to Penn and Princeton, and will probably get up to Cornell and Brown this Fall."

Spears will also take on another physical challenge this Fall. "Harold is playing football this fall for the first time in a few years, and has already started to be noticed based on his size, strength and speed (runs a 4.6 forty)," said Paul.
