New Jersey Big Man Has Plenty Of Promise

Markus Kennedy is a player many college programs watched extensively over the summer, especially during the July period of evaluation. The reasons being were his size and upside.

Kennedy, a 6-foot-9, 230-pound center from St. Patrick High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey, is a 2010 prospect who has two more full seasons to improve his individual game. So there's plenty of hope among college coaches that Kennedy will continue to progress.

From what we saw during the summer in the six times we watched him was a player who has no problem keeping his wide frame near the rim.

Finding a big man interested in earning his pay in the paint as opposed to throwing up lolly pop rainbow jumpers is rare. So you should expect Kennedy to get plenty of scholarship offers.

Penn State, Rutgers, Syracuse, Villanova, Massachusetts, Temple, Miami of Florida and Ohio State are a few schools on his list.

His AAU coach Matt Paul of NJABC is one of his biggest boosters too. "His conditioning has improved," Paul said. "As has his work ethic."

Markus plans on taking unofficial trips to Rutgers and Penn State this Fall. He has already taken a campus visit to Villanova.
