Trenton Central Prospect Has Two Options

Reporter Mike Sullivan gives us a free look at the game of Bruce Brittingham ...

For a high school athlete to have one option to compete for a college scholarship is special in itself. But when a high school player has two -- this is amazing. For Bruce Brittingham, a 6-foot, 165-pound combo guard from Trenton Central High School in Trenton, New Jersey, he can look at options in playing basketball and football.

His AAU coach, Matt Pauls of NJABC, has already been impressed with Bruce's first year on the high school level. Brittingham is a 2011 prospect, a current sophomore now at Trenton Central High School.

"He had a strong freshman year for Coach Randy Morrison at Trenton Central, and will definitely be a starter for the next few years."

The evaluation report on Brittingham:

A rebounder who can defend on the ball. Though listed at 6-foot, he plays bigger than his size. Perhaps the football mentality has helped him around the basket.

It's early in Bruce's high school career. But Pauls believes that football is a sport he could end up being a high division one player. Maybe there's a future for Brittingham to play two sports at the same school.
