Schools Looking Early At 2011 NJ Prospect

Reporter Mike Sullivan has a free story on 2011 prospect Khalid Lewis, who was given some high praise by NJABC AAU coach Matt Paul when we interviewed him ...

Khalid Lewis, a 6-foot-3, 170-pound combo guard from Trenton Catholic High School in Trenton, New Jersey, has plenty of time to develop his individual game. And if you listen to NJABC AAU head coach Matt Pauls, Lewis is going to be a player to keep an eye on over the next few seasons.

Lewis is just a sophomore, a member of the 2011 class. Pauls was excited about Lewis' progress over the summer. Pauls spent a lot of his time coaching the 16 and under NJABC program in the spring and summer.

Pauls is excited about Lewis' physical skills at such a young age.

Lewis received a few honors over the summer -- The all-star teams at Adidas Phenom 150 Class of 2011 and the Eastern Invitational.

"Khalid was a big part of the Trenton Catholic basketball program as a freshman," said Pauls. "He averaged eight points game and was great as a defender."

Lewis isn't shy about heading to the boards and using his 6-foot-3 frame. Pauls said a small sampling of schools from the Atlantic Ten and Big East have shown early bird interest.

Fordham, MAAC and NEC schools are also indicating a desire to follow his sophomore year, according to Paul.
