OSNA Junior Hopes For Breakout Year

Reporter Mike Sullivan updates the recruiting status of Chris Hampton, who will be at Our Savior New American again this season as a junior ...

Chris Hampton, 6-foot guard prospect from Our Savior New American High School in Centereach, N.Y., is hoping for a breakout year this season, according to Pioneers assistant coach Eric Jaklitsch.

Hampton, who transferred before the 2007-2008 season from Cardozo High School in Bayside, N.Y., is a 2010 recruit, a current junior.

Hampton struggled early on last year but seemed to become more steady as the year progressed. "We expect a big year from him," said Jaklitsch.

Chris competed this past summer with Gary Charles' New York Panthers AAU program. Since Hampton is an underclassman, he spent his time playing with the Panthers' 16 and under team.

This website had a chance to watch him play a few times over the summer at some AAU events. He appeared to be more confident in his game and more sure of when to take the ball to the rim.

It's early in the evaluating process for Chris too. But, according to Jaklitsch, St. John's, Marist, and Fordham have expressed initial interest in at least keeping track of his season.
