St. Dominic Big Man Taking Campus Trips

Reporter Mike Sullivan updates us on the recruiting status of Paul Bilbo, the big man from St. Dominic High School on Long Island ...

Paul Bilbo, a 6-foot-7, 220-pound center/power forward from St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay, New York, is expected to finish up his official campus visits, according to Bayhawks head coach Rob Pavinelli.

Pavinelli spoke to us at IS8. Bilbo had said he liked his campus visit to Manhattan. He had also been scheduled to take campus trips to Colgate and Hofstra, including one this weekend.

Bilbo is a good sized inside player who has a soft touch from medium range. The lefty had made some improvements in his individual game over the summer playing for Gary Charles' New York Panthers' program.

While the playing time wasn't as extensive as it would be playing for his high school due to the high quality of talent on the Panthers' roster, Pavinelli was very happy with Bilbo's experience.

"Gary does a great job with the Panthers' program," Pavinelli said. "They play against the best teams and go to the best events."

Pavinelli told us that each of the programs on his list have offered a free ride. "He spent some time with the New York Panthers over the summer," said Pavinelli.

Staying out of foul trouble will be key for Bilbo this season. Pavinelli needs Bilbo to play the majority of the game. His big body near the basket creates space for the other players around the basket. Bilbo has a knack of getting to loose balls and scoring on putbacks.
