St. Dominic Big Man Will Stay Close To Home

Reporter Mike Sullivan has an updated story on the recruiting status of St. Dominic big man Paul Bilbo, who made a college decision yesterday ...

Paul Bilbo, a 6-foot-7, 220-pound center/power forward from St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay, New York, made a verbal commitment to Hofstra University, according to Bayhawks head coach Rob Pavinelli.

Bilbo previously took visits to Colgate and Manhattan.

"Paul committed to Hofstra yesterday, choosing the Pride over Manhattan, Colgate and Columbia amongst others," Pavinelli said.

"Paul is an outstanding student and great kid who will continue to improve because of his work ethic and attitude. He is a young senior and has a tremendous upside."

PREVIOUS EVALUATION: Bilbo is a good sized inside player who has a soft touch from medium range. The lefty had made some improvements in his individual game over the summer playing for Gary Charles' New York Panthers' program.

While the playing time wasn't as extensive as it would be playing for his high school due to the high quality of talent on the Panthers' roster, Pavinelli was very happy with Bilbo's experience.

His big body near the basket creates space for the other players around the basket. Bilbo has a knack of getting to loose balls and scoring on putbacks.
