New Jersey Forward Taking Unofficial Visit

Reporter Mike Sullivan discusses the individual game of Wayne Newsom and provides more information on the division one schools pursuing him ...

Wayne Newsom, a 6-foot-7, 205-pound forward from Piscataway High School in Piscataway, New Jersey, is a 2010 prospect who has early division one interest in his skill level.

Newsom is currently in Pittsburgh unofficially visiting Robert Morris. According to NJABC head coach Matt Pauls, Newsom also has interest from Canisius and Iona.

"He is being recruited by numerous NEC, MAAC, and CAA schools," said Pauls. "I like his chances to play at a division one school because he may have the most upside on the team."

Below is a previous evaluation report on Wayne Newsom's individual game:

MATT PAULS' VIEW OF WAYNE NEWSOM'S INDIVIDUAL GAME: "He dunks the ball, beats guys off the dribble, rebounds like a monster - he just needs to improve his mid-range jumper, and his strength. Wayne's work ethic is unbelievable. He sometimes works out 3 times per day, and often calls me and asks what he can do better, how he can do things differently, etc."

CONCLUSION: Wayne has a big year ahead of him as well as another summer of AAU activity before we really know how high he can play division one basketball. He's likely to take several unofficial visits over the next few months, getting a feel on who is really interested in his skill level right now.
