2009 NY Prospect Elevates Stock After IS8

Reporter Mike Sullivan profiles the individual game of Deer Park High School prospect Josh Malone ...

Josh Malone, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard/small forward from Deer Park High School in Deer Park, N.Y., concluded his IS8 play this past weekend after competing with Torrel Harris' Unique All Stars. Harris' team lost a tough battle against the Playaz Seniors program in the quarterfinals.

Harris has praised Malone for his outstanding last month. Like most young players, shot selection is something that needs to be improved. But Malone plays hard and works hard on both ends of the court.

Josh has shown he can knock down the three pointer too. He hit two of them, and for the most part, doesn't force the issue when handling the basketball.

TORREL HARRIS' VIEW OF JOSH MALONE'S INDIVIDUAL GAME: He's a multi-faceted player with many weapons to use at his disposal. He has an incredibly quick first step to the basket, possesses great ball handling skills, and can shoot from all spots on the floor.

Josh has interest from Fairfield, Stony Brook, Siena, and Columbia, according to Harris. Josh didn't play AAU ball during the summer so many programs are just learning about him.
