The Gauchos are known for developing terrific guards year in and year out. Carissimo is a player who improved his individual game while facing some steep competition. The Gauchos love to play in the high profile AAU events and always seem to do well.
Carissimo's impressive summer was capped off in the month of July when playing down in Disney World at the Wide World of Sports complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
He showed the fans and the scouts in attendance that he can be an offensive weapon, hitting his perimeter shot and occasionally, faking and driving to the rim.
Sandro has also been a big factor for the New York City Gauchos as they prepare today to play in a semifinal playoff game to be held this afternoon at IS8 in South Jamaica, New York.
BRIAN TOWEY'S REPORT: In a game against Princeton Day Academy, the 2010 prospect buried 20 points, showing off a dangerous shooting stroke from deep and a strong feel for the game.
Carissimo, who ran with the Gauchos 16's last summer, and has picked up early interest from Davidson, Brown, Albany, Holy Cross, and Harvard.
The Sleepy Hollow native is also an accomplished student. A member of the National Honor Society, he carries a 93 average in the classroom.
