Oliver is a 6-foot-6 shooting guard who is impressive for his skill level and will present mismatches for his future team, Georgia Tech. "I try to do that whenever I get a chance," said Oliver. "I know I got size on other guards."
Oliver played extremely well down the stretch for the Playaz Senior team in the IS8 Fall League playoffs. It's no surprise. He's a cool customer and isn't easily rattled, even if he has an off day shooting.
"That happens sometimes," he said. "You just have to come back the next day and work harder."
Oliver gave his commitment to Georgia Tech head coach Paul Hewitt during the Rumble in the Bronx event last June with his family by his side. They travel everywhere with Brian, showing their support.
It was one of the reasons why Oliver was an attractive recruit to Hewitt, who tries to focus not only on the skill level of prospects but the strengths of a player's background.
"I liked Coach Hewitt from the first time I met him," said Oliver. "He's very honest with you. I like the way he uses his guards too. It's an attractive school as well. I wanted a good education."
Oliver recently took a visit to Georgia Tech. He will sign his letter of intent next month to make it official that he will play for the Atlantic Coast Conference program starting next season as a freshman.
"I'm looking forward to it," said Oliver. "It's a great conference and it's exciting."
