Charles Funches, a 6-foot-8+, 200-pound power forward/small forward from Monroe College in the Bronx, N.Y., is a player with an intriguing skill set. A long and versatile four-man, the native of Bayonne, N.J., can play both on the perimeter and on the block.

"He can score for us," said Monroe coach Jeff Brustad. "He's very versatile. He can step out and hit a jump shot, put the ball on the floor a little bit. He's versatile in the press; he's a good basketball player."

Funches spent his freshman year at Paris (Texas) Junior College, averaging 9.4 points and 5 rebounds. Thus far, his recruitment has been very diverse.

"He just took an unofficial visit to Fordham," said Brustad. "UAB is interested. A lot of the local schools are interested. Houston, Boise State (are interested). It's all over the board."

Funches attended University Heights (N.J.) Charter School as a prep.
