New Jersey Guard Has Plenty Of Options

Reporter Mike Sullivan has a free player profile update on guard Ameer Brown, who has been working hard not only on the court but in the classroom ...

HEIGHT: 6-foot-4

WEIGHT: 195 Pounds

CLASS: 2009, A Current Senior

HIGH SCHOOL: Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey

POSITIONS: Shooting Guard/Small Forward/Wing Forward

COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES OF INTEREST: We had a chance to speak to Ameer's dad, Tony, who gave us an update. This is a refreshing look at a student/athlete but focusing more on the "student" end of it.

"He is doing well as a student-athlete at Blair Academy," said Mr. Brown. "Their schedule is better than ever and they feel they have the team to win their conference and states this season.

"Ameer has new interest and his perspective has changed and he may spurn the Ivy League to become a big fish in a small pond as it relates to the likes of (Division III) NYU, AMHERST, WESELYAN, VASSAR."

Mr. Brown added: "It is a wait and see time for Ameer. He still has 25 games this season in a highly competitive athletic environment.

"He will explore all options. Again, Ameer's interest isn't the NBA, it's an MBA."

AAU TEAM: Westchester Hawks

PREVIOUS EVALUATION: Brown is a hard working guard who has improved his game over the past year at Blair Academy. He is a solid defender who can score when given an opportunity.
