PLAYER PROFILE UPDATE: Tamir Jackson

HEIGHT: 6-foot-2

WEIGHT: 177 Pounds

HIGH SCHOOL: St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, New Jersey

HIGH SCHOOL HEAD COACH: Danny Hurley

CURRENT AAU TEAM: Playaz Club of New Jersey Senior team

PLAYAZ CLUB PROGRAM DIRECTOR: Jimmy Salmon

COLLEGE COMMITMENT: He chose Rice after opening up his recruiting race again in August. "I'm happy with my decision," he said. "I feel I'll fit in there and I'll be able to earn some minutes if I work hard."

PREVIOUS COLLEGE INTERESTS: UAB, St. John's, Clemson, Maryland, Georgetown, Rhode Island, St. Joe's, Miami of Florida, and Virginia Tech.

UPDATE: Changing his commitment from UAB to Rice took a process of about two to three months for Tamir Jackson. But he stated he was content and ready to polish his individual game in preparation for competing on the division one level of college basketball.

PREVIOUS EVALUATION OF TAMIR JACKSON'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:

STRENGTHS: Tamir handles the ball securely and does a nice job rotating the ball on the perimeter. He has a terrific first step, enabling him to push back his defender, freeing him up for some perimeter opportunities.

AREAS TO IMPROVE: When he does free some space up for himself on the perimeter, Jackson must make the defender pay with his jumper. This will be an area to watch this season.
