Rams Impress With Solid Signing Of NJ Player

Reporters Mike Sullivan and Brian Towey have an update on the Rams of Fordham signing a key forward from the state of New Jersey ...

Chris Gaston, an agile 6-foot-7 big man from the Playaz Club of New Jersey, is expected to be a big part of Fordham University's future success as a basketball program.

Gaston signed his letter of intent with the Rams and continues to help Fordham steam ahead with great momentum in the basketball recruiting area.

Gaston is a proven prospect, having played with Jimmy Salmon's Playaz Seniors team this Fall in the IS8 League. Gaston was one of the main reasons why the Playaz Seniors' team captured the title.

Gaston, who started his career at St. Anthony's High School in Jersey City, N.J., is taking a season at The New Hampton School in New Hampshire.

Chris has gone up against some tough competition, including forward Jeronne Maymon who competed with the Unique All Stars in the IS8 Fall League. In a terrific battle, Gaston scored 24 points while Maymon had 27 in the playoff battle.

Gaston is a smart player too along the baseline. He finds ways to slip through bodies in traffic to score.

Chris should eventually be an All Conference player down the road for Fordham.
