New Jersey Forward Worth Watching This Season

Reporter Mike Sullivan profiles the individual game of Wayne Newsom, a forward from the state of New Jersey who is worth watching this season ...

Wayne Newsom, a 6-foot-7, 205-pound forward from Piscataway High School in Piscataway, New Jersey, already has the nice size and frame that division one college coaches are interested in.

And Newsom has a couple of more seasons to progress in his individual game is why early interested has developed in his skill level.

According to NJABC AAU head coach Matt Pauls, the local schools are showing some serious interest. Iona, Quinnipiac, and Drexel were the latest schools to get involved in the recruiting process.

Newsom, who should have a big junior year in 2008-2009, had previously taken a campus trip to Robert Morris University. The visit was considered "excellent" by Newsom as well as Pauls.

Wayne hasn't closed off his list to any school and has some feelers from other NEC, MAAC, and CAA basketball programs. "He's wide open but certainly interested in the schools showing early interest," said Pauls.

Below is a previous evaluation report:

MATT PAULS' VIEW OF WAYNE NEWSOM'S INDIVIDUAL GAME: "He dunks the ball, beats guys off the dribble, rebounds like a monster - he just needs to improve his mid-range jumper, and his strength.

"Wayne's work ethic is unbelievable. He sometimes works out 3 times per day, and often calls me and asks what he can do better...he's terrific to coach."
