New Jersey Prospect Picking Up Offers

Reporter Mike Sullivan has a story on Dontae Johnson, a basketball and football player from the state of New Jersey ...

Dontae Johnson, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound wide receiver/safety from The Pennington School in Pennington, New Jersey, has some high quality division one football offers, according to his AAU basketball coach, Matt Pauls of NJABC.

Last week, reporter Matt Alkire wrote that Michigan State had offered the multi-sport star a football scholarship. "Dontae is very excited about all the offers," Pauls said. "These are all great schools and programs."

Pauls previously told us on November 14th that Maryland was the first school to offer him from the ACC. On November 21st, North Carolina State had offered a free ride to play football.

Johnson, who also plays basketball for The Pennington School, was time in the 40 in 4.55 seconds, according to Pauls.

Connecticut, Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Stanford, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Georgia, and Duke have also been keeping track of Johnson's progress on the football field.

Johnson is currently preparing to play basketball now for The Pennington School.

PREVIOUS QUOTE FROM NJABC HEAD COACH MATT PAULS: "If he wanted to, he could play division one basketball, but has decided to focus on football. He has about a 3.8 GPA taking very hard courses."
