Football Star Shows Promise On Hardwood

Dontae Johnson, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound two-sport star from The Pennington School in Pennington, New Jersey, has begun his high school basketball season with promise.

Johnson had 12 points and seven rebounds in The Pennington School's impressive victory over Rutgers Prep. The week before Dontae tallied 11 points and grabbed five rebounds in another victory for The Pennington School.

Dontae is a solid hoops player. But he is a terrific wide receiver/safety for The Pennington School football program.

Michigan State, North Carolina State, and Maryland have offered Johnson, who runs the 40 in 4.55 seconds, a scholarship.

Several other football programs are watching his progress too. Among the schools showing interest in his football skills: Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Stanford, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Georgia, and Duke.

Dontae, a 2010 prospect, is also an exceptional student, possessing a 3.8 grade point average.
