Area Player Worthy Of Watching This Season

Reporter Brian Towey has a story about a player from the state of Connecticut who has played in such events as the IS8 League in South Jamaica, New York ...

Danny Lawhorn, a 5-foot-10, 155-pound point guard (2010) From Hartford Public High School in Hartford, Conn., has flown under the radar a bit, according to his coach with the Connecticut Basketball Club, J.R. Hargreaves.

"He's a sleeper," said Hargreaves. "His biggest strength is his ability to create off the dribble, getting guys shots. He can really score, and he's very fast with the ball."

Lawhorn has received some Division I feelers.

"He's heard from schools in the NEC and the MAAC," said Hargreaves. "Delaware has been out to see him play. At the end of the day, he'll wind up in a conference like the NEC (ex: such schools like a Fairfield, etc) or the MAAC (schools like a Fordham, etc)."

Hargreaves said that Lawhorn's game management skills are a part of his game that he'll need to improve upon.

"He has to learn how to run a team," said Hargreaves. "He's gotten away with it because he's so fast and able to get by guys. His game management skills at the next level- that's what he needs to work on."
