Talented NY Guard Might Take ACC Visit

Reporter Mike Sullivan has a story on talented upstate junior guard Taran Buie, who is currently considering a trip to see Paul Hewitt and tour the Georgia Tech campus ...

Taran Buie, a 6-foot-2 backcourt player from Bishop Maginn High School in N.Y., said he hopes to take his next campus visit to Georgia Tech. He would then have an opportunity to see the campus and speak in person to head coach Paul Hewitt.

"It's expensive to take any trip," said Buie. "But I'm hoping to do it soon. I would like to visit the campus and see a basketball game while I'm there."

Buie's last campus visit was to Notre Dame.

"I'm looking at many things in a school," Buie said. "I want to be able to relate to the head coach. I also want to see how I would fit into their offense. And I'm looking at who they're recruiting in the 2009 class as well."

Buie isn't ready to make any decision either. "Maybe I'll do it after the summer," he said. "I want to take my time, take some more trips."

Maryland is also being seriously considered. Buie has previously mentioned interest in Penn State, Virginia Texas, and Virginia Tech. "I don't have a favorite right now," he said.

Buie said education is a big part of his decision too. "I'm thinking about studying business or even engineering," he said.
