Christ The King Rips Apart All Hallows

Middle Village, N.Y. - Junior Maurice Barrow scored 13 of his 17 points in the first half and Christ the King rebounded from a loss to Rice with a resounding 71-33 victory over All Hallows on Sunday.

The Royals (11-2, 3-1 CHSAA AA), who dropped a 71-58 decision to Rice at the Gaucho Gym on Friday night, used a decisive second-quarter run to break the game open.

After struggling early with turnovers and missed second chances, King ripped off a 13-2 run to close the second quarter.

Barrow, the 6-foot-4, 202-pound combo forward, hit a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer during the spurt, while Corey Edwards capped it by finding a streaking Sean Johnson downfloor for the lay-in and a 29-11 halftime lead.

King came out after the break with an intensity that All Hallows (2-6, 1-4 CHSAA AA) simply could not match, and won the game going away.

Barrow (nine rebounds, five offensive) was active on the offensive glass, while Johnson added 11 points for the Royals. The lead guard Edwards, one of the top sophomores in New York City, tallied four points, four assists, and four steals as an offensive catalyst for CK.

Manhattan commit Mike Alvarado (2010), a 6-foot lead guard, led All Hallows with 12 points. The transfer from Wyoming (Pa.) Seminary has a strong feel for the game and could be a nice find for the Jaspers.
