GARDEN CITY, NEW YORK -- Terrance Murchie rattled home 22 points to help H. Frank Carey High School defeat Garden City High School in the Tom Crotty Memorial Classic held on the campus of Adelphi University (Long Island).

The event, which has been held on such campuses as St. John's University and Hofstra, had another terrific lineup in an effort to raise money for the Hope Through Hoops Charity.

Murchie was the star of this game, scoring 11 of his game high 22 points in the first half. His effort gave Carey a 35-21 lead.

But Murchie had some help from a couple of teammates when Garden City tried to make a run in the second half. Big man Phil Leidner scored 16 points, including two three-pointers. And Jasjit Dhillon knocked in 13 points, also featuring two three-pointers.

For Garden City, Peter Barry had 11 points. Teammates Jeff Kimball (9 points) and Reid Rosello (8 points) made contributions.

But the day belong to Murchie, who had three big three-pointers in keeping Garden City off balance the whole day.
