Two-Sport Prospect Has Early D-1 Interest

Reporter Mike Sullivan has an update on the status of 2011 prospect Anthony Gaffney of The Pennington School in New Jersey ...

Anthony Gaffney, a 6-foot-2, 170-pound shooting guard/small forward from the Pennington School in Pennington, New Jersey, has shown the ability to make an impact in two major sports early on in his high school career. Gaffney has shown the skills to compete effectively in both basketball and football.

Anthony, who completed his sophomore season playing football for The Pennington School last two months ago as a defensive back/running back, has been solid for the basketball team this season as well.

Gaffney, who competes mostly at the two guard position, also plays for Matt Pauls' NJABC AAU team at some events.

Anthony is also a very good student. He has major interest from the Ivy League schools as well as programs in the Patriot League.

In football, some of the schools on the East Coast are keeping track of his progress and are likely to scout him more intensely next season as a junior.

*Gaffney averaged 11 points and six rebounds as a freshman. He was named second team all prep by the local newspaper, the Trentonian.
