East Coast Guard Has Solid List Of Interest

Reporter Mike Sullivan introduces a solid East Coast based point guard from Philadelphia by the name of Tyreek Duren, who has helped his team to a 24-2 record so far this season ...

Tyreek Duren, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound lead guard from St. John Neumann High School in Philadelphia, Penn., has already helped his team to the City Catholic League title.

"We're 24-2 so far this season and we play in the states this Friday," he said. "It's been an exciting season."

Duren has averaged 13 points and seven assists in his point guard role. "The best parts of my game is taking the ball to the basket and either scoring or setting up my teammates for some baskets," he stated.

There are areas that Duren is trying to improve upon too. "Well, my jumper has gotten much better this year percentage wise," he said. "But I would like to also work on my pullup jumper. I haven't done that yet. So I want to focus on improving that area over the next year."

Duren said he is doing well in school. He has above a B average. "I know the importance of getting good grades for college," he said.

And because of his season and his classroom situation, Tyreek has some decent early interest in his recruiting process.

"Houston, Temple, Mount Saint Mary's, Robert Morris, Providence and Miami of Florida are the schools I've heard from the most," Duren stated.

Tyreek has already taken an unofficial visit to both Temple and Mount Saint Mary's. "I've enjoyed both trips," he said. "The campuses are nice and I like the style of play."

However, Duren pointed out he is wide open in his recruiting process.
