WEIGHT: 174 pounds
HIGH SCHOOL: Long Island Lutheran in Brookville, N.Y.
*This could change, depending upon how conversations go between the Harris family and the Long Island Lutheran administrators. Mr. Torrel Harris has told us that where his son will attend school could be determined during the summer months.
As reported elsewhere and within the framework of some team message board sites here on Scout.com, there was a verbal disagreement between Mr. Harris (father of Tyler) and the head coach of LuHi at a game in update New York.
The exchange disappointed Mr. Harris, who is considering transferring Tyler and his older brother, Tobias.
We'll keep you posted of any concrete news.
HIGH SCHOOL HEAD COACH: Brian Carey
POSITIONS: Shooting Guard/Small Forward
CLASS: 2011 Class
AAU PROGRAM: Unique All Stars
AAU HEAD COACH: Torrel Harris
MIKE SULLIVAN'S PREVIOUS EVALUATION REPORT:
When given the playing time, Tyler Harris is an effective swingman who had shown dramatic improvement in his individual game over the past year.
Harris is bigger, faster, smarter and more capable of producing points. He has quick feet, is nimble around the basket, and finds open spots on the floor to get off his short jumper.
As his consistency improves, we'll see a player being recruited by high division one programs. He is only a sophomore so he has another two and a half years to go before playing college basketball.
FRANK MANTESTA'S AND MIKE SULLIVAN'S PREVIOUS EVALUATION:
STRENGTHS: Moves well without the basketball. He gives his guards a passing lane by finding the right spots to take his shot. He's quick near the rim too.
AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Consistency from the perimeter and gaining strength are the two areas Tyler is likely to work on before he graduates from Long Island Lutheran.
