Fordham Lands Another Prospect In 2009 Class

Reporter Brian Towey has a story on an overseas player giving a verbal commitment to Fordham University in the Bronx, New York ... Fordham has racked up a terrific recruiting class for 2009 ...

Danny Thompson, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Canarias Basketball Academy in Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain, committed to Fordham, according to a source.

Thompson, a noted shooter, will enroll for the fall of 2009.

"Everything about Fordham University excites me," said Thompson, a native of England. "Playing for Coach Whittenburg, getting a world class education, living in New York City and playing in the Atlantic 10."

Thompson plays for Rob Orellana, a former Fairleigh Dickinson and St. Francis (N.Y.) assistant, at C.B.A.

Thompson becomes Fordham's fourth commit for the 2009 class. Already in the fold are 6-3 SG Lance Brown of Paterson (N.J.) Catholic, 6-7 PF/SF Chris Gaston of New Hampton (N.H.) Prep and 6-8 Brian Freeman of the Potomac (Va.) School.

The Rams also own a commit from 6-6 Joel Wright from Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn. Wright will enroll at New Hampton Prep in the fall and be a member of the class of 2010.
