Former St. Dominic Player Chooses School

Reporter Mike Sullivan has an update on the basketball career of former St. Dominic High School star Markeys Deans, who is currently competing at a JUCO ...

Markeys Deans, a solid 6-foot-5, 220-pound forward from Howard College in Texas, committed to Long Island University, according to sources.

Deans averaged 13 points and five rebounds per contest this past season.

Markeys previously played at St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay, New York under head coach Rob Pavinelli.

Markeys was very impressive to us while he competed for the Bayhawks in the Long Island Catholic League. He had some solid games during the playoffs too as well as the events he played at IS8.

Markeys Deans was a vital player for Rob Pavinelli for several seasons. He was a big reason why the Bayhawks were always competitive. Pavinelli's program always plays a very tough schedule and Markeys seemed to play well against any type of competition.

Markeys showed us that his offensive game became more flexible as he matured. During the several games the reporters from this website watched him in person, he demonstrated the ability to use his handle to shake a man for a drive to the basket.

Deans also had some terrific games while playing in some summer events, including the Rumble in the Bronx held on the campus of Fordham University.
