Andre Pope, a 5-foot-10, 156-pound shooting guard/point guard from Iona Prep in New Rochelle, New York, made a commitment to Division II Saint Rose, according to sources.

Pope, a player who can drain the long range jumper, was recruited heavily and effectively by lead recruiter Mike Perno.

"When he's shooting the ball .... he brings our team to another level," said Iona Prep coach Vic Quirolo, "He played great 'D', drew charges. Offensively, he made big shots."

"I'm a shooter," said Pope. "And (Quirolo) wants me to play hustle defense, get loose balls, get rebounds. I'm a high-riser, so I go to the rim and rebound."
