SEC School Offers New Jersey Prospect

Dontae Johnson, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound two-sport star from The Pennington School in Pennington, New Jersey, was offered a football scholarship over the past 24 hours from Vanderbilt, according to sources close to Johnson.

The offers are piling up for this terrific student/athlete. This website also reported over the past week that Syracuse and West Virginia offered a free ride to play football to Johnson.

Previously, we also published a story about Stanford offering the The Pennington School star a scholarhip.

We'll be following Johnson this spring and summer on the AAU circuit as he competes for Matt Pauls' Team NJABC team.

Other offers Johnson has, according to Pauls: Louisville, Virginia, Minnesota, Connecticut, North Carolina State, Maryland, and Michigan.

Dontae also has interest in Duke, Virginia Tech, Florida, and Georgia.

Johnson competes in football at the wide receiver/safety position. He's been timed in the 40 in 4.5 seconds.

As shown by offers from some academically minded schools, Johnson is a great student, possessing a 3.8 GPA.

A 2010 prospect, Dontae is expected to play for Pauls' Team NJABC this spring and summer.
