His AAU coach, Matt Pauls, has been impressed with his progress as a basketball player. "His midrange game has improved dramatically," he said. "He has been attacking the rim with a vengeance. He needs improve his ballhandling and penetrating left."
Anthony has been invited to many elite camps in June. He will attend camps at at Columbia, Penn, Cornell, Bucknell and St. Joe's. In addition, Gaffney will also attend the Hoop Group Elite camps and will compete in four AAU tournaments during the July evaluation period.
Pauls says the interest is wide ranging for him in both sports. "He has interest from many Ivys and Patriots for basketball or football," said Pauls. "He is projected to have a huge football season this fall at the running back and defensive back positions for the football team."
Pauls said Anthony had an impressive performance football wise at a recent camp. "He attended the Nike Training Camp at Penn State a few weeks ago," Pauls said. "He not only held his own against many 2010 players, but actually excelled in the camp." Gaffney plays for Bernie Gurick at The Pennington School.
