Khalid, who plays for Fred Falchi at Trenton Catholic, recently received offers from Robert Morris and Iona. The feel to his recruiting situation is more offers are likely to come depending upon how he competes in the next couple of months on the AAU circuit.
Fairfield, Rider, Siena, Boston University, and St. Francis of New York are among the schools that could possibly offer Lewis a scholarship soon. Perhaps he might land some more before the July evaluation period begins.
Khalid, also an outstanding student, has given himself the opportunity to consider some terrific academic schools too, including Columbia, Penn, Brown, and Bucknell.
Even better news for Lewis is he's only a 2011 prospect, giving himself two more high school seasons to improve his individual game.
There are other division one programs keeping in touch and monitoring his progress too on a higher level. They include Rutgers, Massachusets, Seton Hall, and Xavier of Ohio.
WHAT HIS AAU HEAD COACH MATT PAULS OF TEAM NJABC THINKS OF KHALID LEWIS:
"Khalid is learning to play the ball quicker, rather than catching and holding. His jumpshot continues to improve, and he is shooting much more consistently.
"He is the best rebounding and defensive guard in his class in New Jersey because of his length and athleticism. He needs to continue to get stronger so he finishes better.
"I expect him to land more scholarship offers by the time the summer AAU season is over. He's improving each week because he's a hard worker and he's understanding the game more."
