Brooklyn Forward Prospect Should Get Better

Reporter Mike Sullivan discusses the individual game of Joel Wright, a forward prospect who is finishing up at Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn, New York ...

Joel Wright, a 6-foot-6, 180-pound forward from Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn, New York, is likely to prep next season at New Hampton and continue improving his individual game so he can play at Fordham University for the 2010-2011 season.

Wright, who is expected to compete for the Juice All Stars this summer in some AAU basketball events, gave his verbal to the Fordham staff a few months back.

Nicknamed "Air Jamaica," he is a player to watch and see how he competes against the high quality competition he is going to face this summer with Tiny Morton's AAU program.

Competing at the Rumble in the Bronx, the Juice went up against a terrific team from California. Unfortunately for the Juice All Stars, the California Supreme dominated near the rim and dealt Morton's team a 100-81 quarterfinal loss in the gold category.

There's no doubt Wright can play. What we like to see is consistency in scoring near the rim. He's going to the proper level too where he can make an impact in the paint too.

As his game matures and he understands he doesn't have to do too much except be near the rim to produce, his production should pick up over the next year.
