East Coast Underclassman Guard Has D-1 Looks

Reporter Mike Sullivan updates the recruiting status of an underclassman guard located on the East Coast. He is likely to compete in several major AAU events during the July evaluation period ...

Khalid Lewis, a 6-foot-3, 170-pound combo guard from Trenton Catholic Academy in Hamilton, New Jersey (previously McCorristin Catholic H.S.), will likely be evaluated very seriously by several division one college basketball programs this month.

Due to his outstanding early play during the spring and first part of the summer, Lewis already has mustered up quite a bit momentum in his recruiting process.

Khalid, who competes for boys basketball head coach Fred Falchi at Trenton Catholic, ripped off several great games in the Rumble in the Bronx, held two weekends ago at Fordham University.

He has played for both the 16 and under and 17 and under Team NJABC AAU basketball program.

WHAT TEAM NJABC HEAD COACH MATT PAULS' THINKS ABOUT KHALID LEWIS' INDIVIDUAL GAME AND PROGRESS:

His recruitment has gone through the roof. He can score from any spot on the floor and he's doing it on a consistent basis. He plays hard on every possession too.

He dunks on his defenders too and can hit the deep ball.

He is the best rebounding and defensive guard in his class in New Jersey because of his length and athleticism. He needs to continue to get stronger so he finishes better.

I expect him to land more scholarship offers by the time the summer AAU season is over. He's improving each week because he's a hard worker and he's understanding the game more.
