Rising Senior Forward Has Some D-1 Interest

Reporter Mike Sullivan updates the recruiting process of a forward from the state of New Jersey, who is a rising senior and is likely to have some division one programs watching him this summer ...

Kazembe Abif, a 6-foot-7, 210-pound power forward from University High School in Newark, New Jersey, is a rising senior prospect who is already generating some division one programs to watch him this month during the evaluation period.

The 2010 prospect is lined up to play for Team NJABC and head coach Matt Pauls this month and in the Fall.

Pauls has taken the time to discuss the individual game of Abif, who will be able to showcase his skill level at some big events during the month of July.

WHAT MATT PAULS PREVIOUSLY SAID ABOUT KAZEMBE ABIR:

Kaz is a player who plays above the rim and effectively in the paint. He tough to stop around the basket. He can dunk on you and make you pay if you leave him with a loose ball near the basket. He's been working hard on trying to improve his perimeter game.

UNIVERSITIES/COLLEGES OF INTEREST:

Fairfield, Fordham, St. Peter's, Monmouth, Stony Brook. "It's mainly Ivy, Patriot League, some schools from the MAAC and Atlantic 10 showing the most interest," said Pauls.

* We'll be down in Florida to watch Team NJABC play as well as many of the top AAU programs from across the country.
