2011 Area Prospect Working On A Big Summer

Reporter Mike Sullivan profiles the individual game of a prospect from Long Island. Albany City Rocks program director Jim Hart is hoping to have him next season with his AAU program ...

PLAYER PROFILE: Tyler Harris

HEIGHT: 6-foot-7

WEIGHT: 177 pounds

HIGH SCHOOL: Dix Hills West High School in Dix Hills, New York (Long Island)

POSITIONS: Shooting Guard/Small Forward

CLASS: 2011 Class, a rising junior

AAU PROGRAM: Unique All Stars (mostly), Albany City Rocks (sometimes). "We are hoping our schedules can be a better fit next year," said Albany City Rocks program director Jim Hart.

"Tyler is going to be an outstanding player. It's obvious there is a lot of basketball talent in this family. He works very hard too. So I see him making progress every year."

AAU HEAD COACH: Torrel Harris

MIKE SULLIVAN'S PREVIOUS EVALUATION REPORT:

When given the playing time, Tyler Harris is an effective swingman who had shown dramatic improvement in his individual game over the past year.

Harris is bigger, faster, smarter and more capable of producing points. He has quick feet, is nimble around the basket, and finds open spots on the floor to get off his short jumper.

As his consistency improves, we'll see a player being recruited by high division one programs. He is only a sophomore so he has another two and a half years to go before playing college basketball.

COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES OF INTEREST: Hofstra, Notre Dame, Connecticut, Syracuse, Fordham, Georgia Tech, and Duquesne.

It's still early in his process, but Tyler has a chance to add another three plus inches to his height. If so, he will be tough to handle near the rim.

FRANK MANTESTA'S AND MIKE SULLIVAN'S PREVIOUS EVALUATION:

STRENGTHS: Moves well without the basketball. He gives his guards a passing lane by finding the right spots to take his shot. He's quick near the rim too.

AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Consistency from the perimeter and gaining strength are the two areas Tyler is likely to work on before he graduates from Long Island Lutheran.
