Many division one programs had coaching representatives on hand yesterday at the Summer in the City tournament held on the campus of St. John's University in Queens, New York.

The AAU tournament, run by the New Heights/Team NJABC AAU programs, featured some of the best talent in the area -- including Jayvaughn Pinkston, Devon Collier, and Ashton Pankey.

Among the programs attending: Hofstra, George Mason, Seton Hall, Fordham, Siena, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Arizona, Central Connecticut, Quinnipiac, St. John's, Penn State, Temple, St. Bonaventure, Providence, Duquesne, Auburn, Richmond, FDU, St. Peter's, Northeastern, St. Joe's, Army, Rice, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Drexel, Villanova, Niagara, Pittsburgh, Rider, Queens College, Boston College, Boston University, Kentucky, Robert Morris, Rutgers, Princeton, Rhode Island, St. Francis of New York, Iona, Albany, Lafayette, and Morehead State...

Kudos to Team NJABC program director Matt Pauls and the St. John's University coaching staff, especially Norm Roberts, who presented the "hoops" expert, Howie Garfinkle with a birthday cake for number "80."...

Roberts kept his eyes glued especially on the talents of the New Heights AAU program, featuring Pinkston, Pankey, and Collier...

Word around the tourney was that Kyrie Irving was leaning quite favorably to Duke over Georgia Tech and Indiana...Irving is still open in his recruiting process...one college coach compared Irving to Isiah Thomas, the former great Indiana and NBA star....
